  Although the London Metropolitan Archives is the principal archive service for the Greater London area, most metropolitan boroughs also maintain their own archive service at their local studies centre . Records can also be found at the county record office for the historical county within which the borough (or part of it) was previously situated

  Facilities Situated in a timber framed manor house (parts of which date back to the 1400s), the centre's collection includes local educational records, local property deeds, microfilmed copies of the Barking Advertiser and microfilmed local parish registers. You are advised to telephone in advance to book microfilm/fiche readers.
