		Introduction

		This section provides links to institutions and societies running genealogy courses aimed at experienced family historians. In addition to courses, most family history societies run extensive programmes of talks and seminars on genealogical topics (see this site's section on genealogy talks) . Family history fairs also typically provide a series of lectures on a wide range of family history subjects - for a list of family history fairs with links to sites giving details see this site's calendar of fairs.

		Dorset FHS	Intermediate Research (before 1837) - 2 days
		Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies	The Institute run a wide selection of courses for the experienced genealogist ranging from subjects as diverse as wills, military records, heraldy and developing the hobby into a full or part time occupation
		Your Fair Ladies	various courses provided in association with the WEA
		Society of Genealogists	The society runs numerous half-day courses, lectures and tutorials on a wide range of topics of interest to experienced family historians, most of which s can be booked online - see its extensive events calendar
		Suffolk Record Office	various courses provided including one on local manorial families



		Online Courses

		Pharos Tutoring provide a wide range of online courses for experienced family historians. These cover subjects as diverse as Medieval Genealogy, Nonconformist Records, Australian Roots and Branches, Employment Records, etc. There are currently over 40 courses on offer so it is worth checking their site to see if there is one geared to your particular interests. The courses range in cost from £26 to over £60.

		Software Packages

		Larimer County Genealogical Society	Video Presentations Editing - free online videos covering various family history activities such as use of digital cameras and scanners, conserving photographs, scrapbooking family histories, photo editing, writing and publishing family histories



		Postgraduate Courses

		University of Strathclyde	Postgraduate Certificate in Genealogical Studies - 12 full Saturdays spread over 6 months (January to June) - online version of the course also provided Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical Studies - 9 Saturday afternoons spread over 9 months (October to June) plus 1 evening lecture/seminar per month Although both courses listed above provide the knowledge, techniques and skills required by genealogist professionals they are also equally well suited to experienced family historians who wish to further develop their expertise in genealogy and related subjects (palaeography, heraldry, etc) - the subject matter covers England and Wales (i.e. the scope of this site) as much as it does Scotland and Ireland
